Pascal Henriot Pinot Noir
Pascal Henriot is based in Champlitte - a small wine making village just north of Dijon in Burgundy, France. up until the 1800's, Champlitte was a well known winemaking area but disease and phylloxera killed off the vines. the village stayed true to their roots and continuously held an annual festival to Saint Vincent - the patron saint of winegrowers - a tradition that started in 1612. In 1970, vineyards began to be replanted with a co-op being set up in 1974.
Pascal Henriot remains the only independent winemaker in Champlitte. after returning from viticultural school in Beaune in 1985, he devoted 6 hectares over three plots to Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Auxerrois. he has been farming organically since day 1 and biodiversity in the vineyard is encouraged by native hedges and ancient limestone walls surrounding it.
this 100% Pinot Noir is a familiar and welcoming Burgundy style showing a bright, red fruit character.
