Lean, steely, creamy and memorable

A left field choice for Burgundy. Hubert Lignier and his son, Laurent, now tend to 9 hectares of vines in Morey-Saint Denis and Gevrey Chambertin. In 2004, Romain, Hubert's eldest son, passed away meaning Hubert was forced out of retirement and back into the vineyards. They use no artificial pesticides or herbicides, and have been for more than 25 years! They use very little new oak allowing the wine to express itself. Aligoté is almost a hidden grape in Burgundy. Although Burgundy is known for it's Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Aligoté can produce lean, steely but creamy wines. This is exactly what the 2009 Hubert Lignier Aligoté is.
