Meaty, rich, earthy, violet and velvety
Domaine Joseph Chamonard hasn’t used chemicals in 40 years. Joseph passed away in 1990, leaving the winery in the hands of his daughter and her husband, Genevieve and Jean-Claude Chanudet. The winery owns 4.5 hectares in Corcelette near Vielle-Morgon. they use indigenous yeasts and long and slow carbonic maceration. Morgon ‘Le Clos de Lys’ is 100% Gamay. From 4 hectares of 60 year old vines from Les Martillets, Chenes and Corcelette. Hand harvesting in late-October to ensure ripeness. The wine spends 8 to 12 months in foudre.
