White pepper, floral and fleshy fruits. Light in alcohol
Werner, Hannes and Lukas are third generation winemakers of the Michlits family. The winery is not just a winery but a farm consisting of 2000 hectares! A bit of a history lesson comes with this wine; The village, Pamhagen, used to be Hungary before the First World War, but was later allocated to Austria. A part of the village land remained in Hungary, until communism expropriated it. After the fall of communism and the reopening of the borders, it was Anneliese and Werner Senior’s life dream to expand their small 40ha farm to 100ha, and to cultivate the Hungarian fields once again. With over 2000ha to play with, Meinklang have kept to the traditional winery concepts of old - multi-faceted, independent and self-sufficient mixed farm run on gut feel and instinct. This Gruner comes from a 70 hectare vineyard on sandy loam and rocky topsoil. Average age of vines is 10 to 30 years. The wine is fermented on the lees for 4 months in stainless steel.
