Founded 1751, the brewery is located in the famous sake village of Nada in Kobe, Hyogo. The water is rich in minerals and generates a clear and powerful sake profile. Sake from Nada is called “Otoko-sake” meaning men's sake. The brewers at Fukuju carefully produce the koji by hand in koji muro, a special cultivation room. They use processes perfected over centuries of practice. Rice is cultivated by farmers in the northern region of Mt. Rokko. This is a plum sake with a base of ume plum, rather than the usual distilled alcohol. 500ml bottle.
