Black pepper, spice, black liqourice, rose petal and chocolate
Like Burgundy, nothing beats a Rhône Valley Syrah. It's bold and spicy but floral. George Vernay is known for reviving wine from Condrieu in the 1960's when the appellation was on it's knees with only 8 hectares. Today the estate is managed by George’s daughter Christine and her husband Paul Ansellem. The domaine covers 8 hectares in Condrieu, 2.5ha in Côte-Rôtie and 1.5ha in Saint-Joseph. Translated as 'Earth of Ink’, this Syrah is produced from 30 year old vines planted on rich, dark granite terraces in Chavanay.
