Herbacious, peach, apricot and floral
Penedès is located inland and south of Barcelona in Catalunya. Known mostly for Cava and big and bold reds; it also produces some of the most refreshing and crisp white wines in Spain from Xarel.lo. Ramón Jané, Mercé Cuscó and Toni Carbó got together in 2006 to break a Jané family tradition. Up until then, the Jané family grew and sold grapes for more than 500 years to cava producers to make the sparkling wine from Catalunya. The trio made a white wine from 100% Xarel.lo, biodynamically grown on 50-year old bush trained vines. The wine sees 24 hours of skin contact before spending 7 months on the lees (dead yeast cells from the winemaking process) in stainless steel.
