Grenache, Gris and Macabeo
Fresh, white fruits, flint and white pepper with a long finish
Tom Lubbe, a native South African, made wine with indigenous yeasts and low yields on his home turf until the late 90’s. He headed to South of France to start a three month internship which led to three consecutive harvests with Domaine Gauby. In 2003, he set up Matassa. The vineyards are now organically certified and production and farming is biodynamic and natural. The vines are hand harvested and are low yielding. Carignan, Grenache, Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Muscat d’Alexandrie, and Muscat de Petit-Grains are worked with.
