Big, bold, oaky, balsamic and black fruit character
Established in 1999 by Fausto Albanese and Adriana Galasso when they began to cultivate Montepulciano vines planted in 1972 by Adriana’s grandfather, Rocco. In 2004, they bought 8 hectares, which are organically farmed, and planted Trebbiano and Pecorino. They now own 21ha located 25km from the Adriatic Sea near the mountain range of Gran Sasso d’Italia. The name of the estate comes from a large 14th century fresco painting, found in the local church of Saint Maria in Piano, meaning “Tower of the Blessed”. The Cocciapazza is Torre dei Beati's grandfather wine - Big, mature and nuanced. It spends 22 months in oak barrique, leaving the wine with blackberry spice, liqourice and balsamic notes.
